ABOUT LAUREN PARK

Some of you who are booking lessons this summer have known me for well over a decade, and some of you are brand new that I’ve never met who are in search of some swimming lessons for you or your children! So, here’s a little recap of my experience:

I’ve instructed both Red Cross and Lifesaving Society swim programs since 2008, and I’ve worked with the Town of Caledon, the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, and the Town of Newmarket. I’ve lifeguarded my way through public swims, swim team practices, and eventually even started to help coach the Stouffville swim team and the Stouffville triathlon club. I’ve taught all the way from infants to grandparents, and ranging from 1:1 private lessons to 16-person Bronze Medallion classes. I truly feel like I’ve done it all these past 17 years!

Ok now let’s talk qualifications & certifications:
I’m a LSS Aquatic Supervisor, LSS Advanced Instructor, LSS Standard First Aid Instructor, LSS National Lifeguard, LSS Swim Instructor, LSS Lifesaving Instructor, LSS Emergency First Aid Instructor, Standard First Aid with CPR-C, and have completed the Exam Standards Clinic.

What you’ll learn: Progression steps and how to advance your child through play (beyond the 8th lesson), and quickie first aid!

    2. PRESCHOOL PROGRAM (Ages 3-5)

It’s time to make these kiddos independent swimmers! We’ll be jumping, we’ll be floating, we’ll be gliding, anddd we’ll be swimming further and further every time. What they’ll learn: Movement/ swimming skills, safe entries/exits, underwater skills, surface support, and some water-smart tips.

    3. SWIMMER PROGRAM (Ages 6-12)

If they’re not already independent, then that’s the first goal! And if they are, then mastering those strokes with technique and learning how to really propel with power is next!

What they’ll learn: Stroke technique, lifesaving kicks, interval training, sprints, long workouts, diving, and of course, more water education!

    4. PATROL PROGRAM (Ages 9-13)

Essentially a continuation of the Swimmer Program (but with cooler names)! These levels have lots of first aid and higher physical expectations. 8-10 hours per level.

What they’ll learn: Stroke development, lifesaving skills, object carry, and lots of first aid for conscious and unconscious victims.

    5. BRONZE PREP COURSES (Ages 12-16)

Once they’ve completed the Patrol Program, then they’re ready to prep for their Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross courses!

    6. FITNESS + STROKE DEVELOPMENT (Ages 9+)

This is for swimmers of any age who want to improve their overall physical fitness in the water! Or who need to focus on one or more or their strokes to complete a level.

What they’ll learn: Stroke technique, pace clocks and timers, interval training, sprints, and long endurance workouts.

    7. ADULT PROGRAM (Ages 13-80)

Whether you’re just starting out or just want help with your strokes, the Adult program is for the young heart — no matter what your age.

What you’ll learn: Anything you don’t already know! Floats, stroke techniques, lifesaving kicks, diving, and improving your fitness.

    8. ADAPTED AQUATICS (for all ages!)

This program is designed to give individuals with exceptionalities and disabilities the opportunity to experience the benefits of aquatics, without being focused on completing levels.

They’ll work on enhancing their swimming abilities and comfort level in the water.

  • AFTER YOU REGISTER:
Once you’re booked in with your forms + payment, you’re set— no need for anything else! Don’t feel like a stranger though, if you’re new! Email me anytime to ask me anything, anytime.

    THE WEEK BEFORE YOUR LESSON:
I’ll send a little reminder that your lessons are coming up soon! And grab any extra information I might need from you. Like what side of the house I should enter the backyard from, etc.

    THE DAY OF YOUR LESSON:
You’ll be getting a text reminder from me when I’m en route to your place! Either from the previous house, or mine, depending if you’re the first lessons of the day or not.
I always leave myself 30 minutes to get from house to house (but that also includes getting out of the pool, drying off and a quick chat, hopping in my car, and then getting to the next destination in time.

    DURING YOUR LESSONS:
Day 1: Assessment of how they learn, how they receive feedback, what skills I need to catch them up with, what skills they’re struggling with, etc.

Days 1-3: The kids will have learned and tried all the fun (and challenging new skills within the first 3 days of lessons.

Days 2-8: Allllll of the practice.

    AFTER YOUR LESSONS:
The kids will get a Progress Report booklet at the end of their last lesson with their updated level completion sticker/badge. Yay!!! (along with some comments about their swimming — what they did great at, what they could practice some more of, etc!)

    REMINDER:
When I teach, this is your time to relaaaaax! Go rest, read a book, do a home workout, scroll Instagram, run to the grocery store, make a snack, lay on your back and stare at the ceiling — literally whatever you want.
(For real! 99% of the time, kids usually find it more distracting when their parents are watching anyway.) <3

  • THE GENERAL POLICY:
Please make sure you’re available and on time for all of the lessons in your session, as time will not be made up otherwise, and no refunds will be made for missed classes.

14 DAYS OR MORE BEFORE YOUR START DATE:
If you want to cancel your lessons entirely (or wanting to switch sessions) 14 days or more prior to your start date, you’ll receive 50% of the total payment returned to you! (You can then obviously use this 50% towards your new booking!)

WITHIN 13 DAYS OF YOUR START DATE:
If you want to cancel your lessons entirely (or wanting to switch sessions) within two weeks of the start date, 0% of the total payment will be refunded. (If you’re able to find another swimmer or family to take your spot(s) that are in the same area (or approved distance by me), you’ll get 50% returned to you! Yay!)

  • WHO’S CANCELLING THE LESSON?:
I think asking this question is the easiest way to know if the lesson will be rescheduled or not!

IF LAUREN CANCELS: You’ll have your lesson rescheduled!

IF YOU CANCEL: Then unfortunately the lesson won’t be rescheduled.

    WHEN ARE LESSONS CANCELLED?:
Lessons are sometimes cancelled due to extreme weather (thunder and lightning), OR if I’m unable to teach because of sickness. (Lessons continue to run in the rain. Water is water, am i right?!)

WHEN WILL THE MAKE UP LESSON BE?:
Classes that are cancelled by me will be rescheduled for the next available day (in the most cases, the Friday of your swim week), OR at the end of the summer (August 26-30).

HOW DO I KNOW IF CLASSES ARE CANCELLED?
If there are cancellations due to weather, I’ll call or text you not long before. (So keep your contact info current)! Weather is always changing, so I’m unable to “make the call” hours ahead of time.

SWIM MEETS PHOTOGRAPHY

DISCOUNTS FOR SWIM CLIENTS!

  • Chaos. So much chaos. And that's exactly how I love it. You might leave a session thinking, "I'm not really sure how that went." Because your kids will be running, jumping, playing, loving. If you're looking to see your child's personality come to life, let's chat!

45-90 minutes of goodness (with 45 minutes being the sweet spot — since kids have one thousand other things they want to do with their day lol!). We schedule 1.5 hours just incase of tantrums that need slow recovery, or baby feedings, etc.

And then 2-4 weeks later, you’ll receive a link to an online gallery with minimum 100 edited hi-resolution images of all the goodies to enjoy!!!

$500 CAD (discounted from $700 for non-swimmer families)

  • Pre or post pregnancy! 1-2 hours with me. And 2-4 weeks later, you’ll receive a link to an online gallery with 100-150 edited hi-resolution images.
